India on to top of ODI rankings with 3-0 series win over NZ

Date:

Indore: After a resounding 3-0 clean sweep over New Zealand, the Indian cricket team has ascended to the summit of the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings.
Powered by magnificent centuries from Shubman Gill (112 off 78) and Rohit Sharma (101 off 85), coupled with stellar performances from bowlers Shardul Thakur (3-45) and Kuldeep Yadav (3-62), India clinched a commanding 90-run victory in the third and final ODI at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, despite Devon Conway’s fighting century.
India’s triumph in the first ODI, a thrilling high-scoring encounter in Hyderabad, followed by a convincing eight-wicket win in Raipur, laid the groundwork for their elevation to the top spot in the Men’s ODI Rankings.
England, who had briefly held the top position just three days prior following New Zealand’s defeat to India in the second ODI, now find themselves in second place, with New Zealand slipping to fourth.
Before the series conclusion, all three teams were tied on 113 points, with the overall points tally determining the hierarchy. However, India’s victory has propelled them to the first position with 114 rating points, while England now occupies second place with 113 rating points. Australia has moved up to third place with 112 rating points, and New Zealand stands at fourth with 111 rating points.
Looking ahead, if England secures a 3-0 victory in their upcoming ODI series against South Africa, they will dethrone India and reclaim the top spot in the Men’s ODI rankings.
