The world has never seen anything like it in cinema marketing: Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s trailer is the first ever to surpass one billion views. Sony released the trailer on March 17, and by the following Tuesday, WaveMetrix confirmed the total had crossed 1.1 billion. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has officially become the most anticipated superhero of the decade.
In a single day, the trailer collected 718.6 million views — a number that obliterated previously unbeatable records. Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser, which had earned 365 million views in 24 hours in February 2024, and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million could not compete. Even Grand Theft Auto VI, which shook the entertainment world with 475 million first-day views, was surpassed.
The one billion milestone itself is unprecedented. No trailer from any film, franchise, or media property had ever reached this figure before. Brand New Day now holds not one but multiple global records for trailer viewership.
Arriving July 31, Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. It is the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and a key entry in Phase Six. Indian audiences will have access in six languages across all premium screens.
The trailer portrays a deeply human Peter Parker, navigating life without recognition or connection after No Way Home’s memory wipe. Fans were moved and mobilized, turning the trailer into a social media event of its own. With such staggering advance interest, Brand New Day looks set to surpass even No Way Home’s $1.9 billion haul.
