Erdoğan Warns Israeli Actions Pose Greatest Threat to Syria’s Stability

Date:

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has warned that Israeli military actions represent the most serious threat to Syria’s stability, reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the country in the post-Assad period.

Speaking at a meeting of Turkish ambassadors in Ankara, Erdoğan said Türkiye backs a unified and stable Syria but stressed that repeated Israeli airstrikes and territorial violations have undermined security. He pointed to intensified attacks and cross-border operations following the collapse of the Assad regime, describing Israel’s expansion into previously demilitarized areas as a violation of international agreements.

Erdoğan said Syria now faces a historic opportunity to rebuild after years of conflict and emphasized that Ankara will continue to support Damascus during this transition. He also warned that extremist groups such as Daesh remain a threat, while criticizing external cooperation with the YPG, which Türkiye considers a terrorist organization, under the pretext of counterterrorism.

Calling for Syria’s territorial integrity, Erdoğan said the country’s future depends on unity among all segments of society. He cautioned that attempts to fragment Syria would only benefit external actors and deepen regional instability.
