“A Consulting Group”: Ukraine to Advise Other Nations on Drone Defense

Date:

In a move that highlights its unique position in modern warfare, Ukraine is establishing a “consulting group” to advise other nations on drone defense, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced. This initiative will see Ukraine formally export its hard-won knowledge on how to counter one of the most pervasive threats on today’s battlefield.

“We will dispatch a consulting group to some countries regarding how to counteract such steps,” Zelensky explained, signaling a proactive effort to share its expertise. He also noted that foreign military representatives would be invited to Ukraine to learn directly from its forces. This transforms Ukraine from a student of war into a teacher.

This new role as a security consultant is part of a broader, more sophisticated national strategy. It runs parallel to Ukraine’s efforts to become a defense exporter, with Zelensky confirming that the US is set to begin talks on purchasing Ukrainian drones.

Simultaneously, Ukraine continues to be a major recipient of advanced military technology. The country is pursuing a new deal with the US to acquire long-range weapons, a top priority for its military. A delegation will soon be in Washington to finalize an agreement that will build on an existing $90 billion support framework.

This strategy of learning, adapting, and now teaching is a hallmark of Ukraine’s resilience. The recent arrival of a US-made Patriot air defense system from Israel provides the advanced hardware to complement its world-class tactical knowledge, creating a formidable defensive posture.
