Deadline Looms: Elections Canada Urges Mail-In Voters to Deliver Ballots in Person

Date:

With less than a week left before election day, Elections Canada is urging voters who opted to vote by mail within their riding to hand-deliver their ballots if they haven’t mailed them yet. The goal: ensure every vote counts.

The agency emphasizes that all special ballots must be received by 6 p.m. ET on April 28 at the national office in Ottawa, or by the close of polls at your local Elections Canada office — whichever destination your kit is addressed to. Importantly, those who applied to vote by mail cannot switch to in-person voting on election day.

As of Monday, 863,938 special ballot kits had been issued, with 108,621 still unreturned. If you applied for a voting kit but haven’t received it, contact Elections Canada or visit your local office immediately.

Voters who haven’t applied for a mail-in ballot can still vote in person at their assigned polling station on April 28.

Stay informed by checking the full list of candidates in your riding and ensure you’re registered to vote. Bring proper ID and be aware of deadlines — your vote matters.
