Iran has firmly denied any involvement in the conflict unfolding in Yemen, insisting that the Houthi forces act autonomously and make their own strategic decisions. Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated that Tehran refrains from meddling in Yemen’s internal matters and dismissed any accusations of Iranian connection to recent events concerning Saudi Arabia and Yemen. According to Baghaei, the ongoing conflict has roots deeply embedded within Yemen itself.
In a development related to regional diplomacy, a planned meeting in Oman with Iran and Gulf countries has been postponed at Saudi Arabia’s behest. This gathering was intended to focus on enhancing regional security and fostering cooperation. Additionally, the talks were set to provide Iran and Oman with a platform to showcase an understanding they had reached regarding maritime routes across the Strait of Hormuz. Despite the delay, Baghaei assured that the Iran-Oman agreement has been concluded and that both nations will determine the next steps forward.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, confirmed the postponement of the regional meeting, citing a desire to support a broader consensus as the reason. He emphasized Oman’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and ensuring long-term regional stability and cooperation.
This postponement marks a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the complexities of the Middle East’s geopolitical landscape. The discussions, when they eventually take place, are expected to touch on pivotal issues impacting security and cooperation across the region.
