Date:

Kaylee Hottle, an actor celebrated for her portrayal of Jia in the MonsterVerse films Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, has died at 18 due to a car accident in Maryland. The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle was a student, confirmed her passing, extending their heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and the community who cherished her presence.

The tragic incident unfolded early Tuesday morning in Frederick, Maryland, when the 1995 Honda Accord in which Hottle was a passenger veered off the road and collided with a culvert. Authorities investigating the crash have indicated that excessive speed may have played a role in the accident.

Hottle was transported to a nearby trauma center following the crash, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead. The vehicle’s driver, a 19-year-old, suffered injuries, though they were not deemed life-threatening. Another passenger involved in the accident opted not to seek medical attention.

Hottle’s role as Jia, a young deaf orphan who forms a profound connection with the giant ape Kong, left an indelible mark on audiences and critics alike. Her performance was lauded for its authenticity and the meaningful representation it provided for the deaf community within a major film franchise.
