Israel’s Passport Climbs to 18th, Boosts Economic and Business Opportunities in 2026.

Date:

The Israeli passport has climbed to its highest position yet on the 2026 Henley Passport Index, securing the 18th spot worldwide by granting its holders visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 166 destinations. This improvement has sparked a rising interest in Israeli citizenship, as noted by Decker, Pex, Levi, an Israeli immigration law firm. They have reported an uptick in inquiries from individuals eager to explore their eligibility for Israeli citizenship and to obtain an Israeli passport.

In the latest Henley Passport Index, Singapore has maintained its dominance at the top, while Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are tied for second place. The report highlights the UAE’s remarkable ascent in passport strength, marking it as the fastest-growing over the past two decades. The index evaluates passports based on the number of countries their holders can visit without needing a visa beforehand.

Israel’s citizenship laws offer several routes for individuals seeking to become citizens. These include the Law of Return for Jews and their families, citizenship by birth or adoption, naturalization for qualifying permanent residents, marriage to an Israeli citizen, and, in special cases, citizenship granted by the Minister of Interior. This legal framework has contributed to the heightened interest in acquiring Israeli citizenship.

Decker, Pex, Levi assists clients with a range of immigration-related services, including citizenship applications, family-based immigration processes, and Aliyah procedures, which involve the immigration of Jews to Israel. The firm navigates these matters on behalf of clients before Israel’s Ministry of Interior, reflecting the broader international interest in the benefits associated with Israeli citizenship and the strengthened passport.
