Türkiye Warns of Economic Impact from Israel Strikes in Syria, Urges Action

Date:

The recent Israeli military actions in southern Syria have drawn sharp criticism from Türkiye, which has denounced the strikes as a breach of Syrian sovereignty and a threat to the stability of the region. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has expressed its concerns over the attacks on Quneitra and Daraa, arguing that these actions infringe upon Syria’s territorial integrity and run counter to international law. They also highlight a violation of the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, which was established to maintain peace between the conflicting parties.

Türkiye has voiced apprehensions that the continuation of such strikes could exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation in Syria, endangering civilian lives and hampering efforts aimed at restoring stability to the war-torn country. In light of these potential consequences, Turkish officials have called upon the international community to intervene and take measures against further attacks that could escalate tensions in the volatile region.

Burhanettin Duran, Türkiye’s Communications Director, has also weighed in, emphasizing that these military actions pose a serious threat to Syria’s security and undermine the ongoing efforts towards achieving long-term peace in the region. His remarks underscore the importance Türkiye places on the maintenance of peace and security in its neighboring country.

Türkiye remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, viewing these elements as crucial for ensuring regional security. The Turkish government continues to advocate for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict and urges other nations to engage in constructive dialogue to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
