Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan Enhance Economic Ties, Boost Trade and Connectivity Initiatives

Date:

Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have renewed their commitment to deepening their bilateral relationship, focusing on enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This reaffirmation came after the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, led by the foreign ministers of both nations. The discussions also emphasized diplomatic solutions for international conflicts.

During the meeting, the officials evaluated the current progress in their relations and agreed to broaden collaboration in crucial areas such as education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. They also laid the groundwork for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Economic collaboration was highlighted as a key priority, with both governments committing to support new investment initiatives and creating conducive environments for businesses to thrive.

Regional connectivity was a major topic of discussion, with Kyrgyzstan underscoring the significance of the Middle Corridor as a vital transport route. The country aims to integrate the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway into this corridor, thereby enhancing access to European and Middle Eastern markets through Türkiye. Both sides also agreed to facilitate travel, employment, and educational opportunities to bolster people-to-people connections.

The meeting also covered regional and global security issues, with both nations pledging to resolve disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan acknowledged Türkiye’s efforts in regional mediation and expressed gratitude for Ankara’s support in its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. Kyrgyzstan plans to advocate for dialogue among nations while representing the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous regions, and small island states on the global stage.
