Kazakhstan and Germany are enhancing their bilateral economic collaboration, focusing on investment and infrastructure initiatives. This development follows discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, where they explored the potential for deeper cooperation.
During the talks, Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, highlighting the progress achieved in their bilateral relations over the past thirty years. The discussions centered on expanding economic ties, with Tokayev proposing the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This platform aims to facilitate joint projects and increase investment flows between the two nations.
In addition to government-level talks, President Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders. These discussions covered various sectors, including transport, logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. A significant focus was placed on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of Kazakhstan’s manufacturing capabilities.
The meetings also explored opportunities for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, offering them increased access to the broader Central Asian market. This initiative reflects a concerted effort by both countries to bolster economic growth and cooperation, leveraging Germany’s industrial expertise and Kazakhstan’s strategic position in the region.
